Frequently Asked Questions

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses a pen containing fine needles to penetrate the top layer of your skin. The pen causes micro injuries to stimulate your body to produce collagen and elastin to improve the texture and overall health of your skin. This technique will lead to a healthier layer of skin with a smoother texture, renewed firmness; it can reduce pore size, soften wrinkles and reduce appearance of stretch marks as well as scars. With as few as three non-invasive treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, you can improve your appearance for six months after your last treatment – and step out with confidence.

Who Should Consider Microneedling?

The best candidates for microneedling are men or women of almost any age who are concerned with the appearance of their skin. The most common are people concerned with dry skin, uneven skin tone, rough texture, age spots, loose skin, wrinkles on the face, neck, and chest. Microneedling can also improve acne, although candidates should not have an active acne breakout.

What to Expect?

While the procedure is not painful, a topical numbing cream is first applied to the skin to maximize comfort during your treatment. Because the needle is disposable, new needles are used for each procedure for optimal health and safety.
You will relax in the treatment chair while having your microneedling treatment. The medical grade microneedling device (a state-of-the-art, handheld technology) will produce minuscule holes in your skin, which opens it up just enough to start the cell regeneration process. The speed is adjustable for customized precision in sensitive areas such as around the eyes and nose, as well as in spots that require extra attention, such as scars. The microneedling device is passed over the treatment area several times, creating thousands of tiny punctures. Beginning at your forehead and working all the way around your face, we will glide it across your skin in a back and forth motion. The tiny needles will not damage your skin. It will brilliantly bolster your ability to produce skin-firming collagen.
You can expect to see some swelling and redness to your skin after the treatment as this is a normal reaction. It may take several weeks for you to see the end result. Your skin will need time to repair itself and heal, taking special care to avoid direct sun exposure.
There are three phases to the wound-repair process:
• Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.
• Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
• Phase III: Remodeling. The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels.

What parts of the body can benefit from microneedling?

While Microneedling is usually applied to the face, the treatment can also be used on other parts of the body to improve stretch marks, wrinkles, and scarring. The most common areas to have Microneedling treatments besides the face include the:
• Neck
• Décolletage
• Back of Hands
• Stretch Marks
• Surgical scars
